Description: This is a large scenic bay with a description of the ongoing wildlife research available at the Interpretive Center. Great for birdwatching. For people, there are 2 trail options, the longer one-way 2.25 Shore Trail Hike, and the much shorter <1 mile looped Upland Trail Hike. Only the Shore Trail Hike allows dogs (on leash). It is a wide, paved, wheel-chair accessible path that runs along the shore of the bay on top of a dike. No dogs are allowed on the beach area or on the Upland Trail. However, it's worth leaving your dog in the car a few minutes to check out the Upland Trail, which is a flat grassy walk where you can see Highland cows along the way.
Directions: I-5N to Burlington (near Mt. Vernon). West on Highway 20 about 8 miles to Bayview Edison Road, turn right. It goes for about 4 miles to the Interpretive Center. You'll see the Shore Trail Hike on the left side on the way to the Center. The first entrance has little or no parking. Proceed to the other end of the path for a parking area across the street.
